ASA Brooklyn Avengers Defeat Short-handed Adelphi Panthers 6-1

Garden City, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers travels to Long Island to play against the Adelphi Panthers, a NCAA Division II team.

The Avengers faced off against a team that was hit by the flu and was only able to field 4 players.  The Panthers had to forfeit a double and 2 singles.  However, the Avengers was still able to turn in an impressive performance from the matches that they played.  "I feel like today is the best they ever played this season, especially in the doubles," said men's tennis head coach Sean Floyd.  "I was very pleased with their aggressive play and their focus on the court.  Earlier in the week, we had a team meeting and we were able to implement what we talked about during the meeting into the game today.  It just seemed like we were able to click on our doubles play."

The Avengers won both of their doubles match and 3 out of their 4 singles play.  "For the 4th singles that we lost, Alisher recognized his mistakes and understands what he needs to do for the next game," said Floyd.  Even though we won 6-1, we were still able to learn today as we encountered a different style of play than our previous opponents and many of their players were left-handed.  However overall, there wasn't much to be upset about."
