ASA Brooklyn Avengers 2019 Baseball Season - Opening Week

Brooklyn, NY – The ASA Brooklyn Avengers open their 2019 baseball season with a double-header on the road against RCGC before travelling back home the next day for a home game against rivals Nassau Community College.

With a pair of double-headers on the road against RCGC, the Avengers wasn't able to start the season the way they wanted.  With an opening week in the middle of the March, the Avengers weren't able to develop the kind of chemistry that teams who started their season in February or early March had.  In both games against RCGC, the Avengers weren't able to stay competitive and lost game 1 with a score of 1-6 and lost game 2 with a score of game 1-16.  #1 Rohandry Javier scored the Avengers lone point in game 1 while #37 Richard DiMartino scored the Avengers lone point in game 2.

The next day, the Avengers was able to fare much better at home against rivals Nassau Community College.  The Avengers was able to score the first 5 runs by the end of the 3rd inning.  After starting the 5 inning leading 5-2, the Avengers scored 8 runs in the inning before ending the game 14-3.  Both Louis Winter and Sammy Cuevas scored 3 runs in the win against Nassau.

For week 2, the Avengers play a double-header against Mercer County Community College on Sunday March 24th, 2019.
